Model 9 (early)

History:

With his Model 9 in 1921 Walther put his last vestpocket-pistol caliber .25 before the postwar-era on the market.
With this pistol the designer returned to a bolt-action system again , which appearently was necessary to place all the needed part in so small an available space.
This little dwarf, which was produced until 1945, easily by it's small dimensions could compete with the FN Baby as one of the tiniest automatic pistols ever made.Anyhow it was smaller than any other Walther pistol up to that date.
Two main types were offered by the company, which in 1933 were listed as "Modell 9a" for 23,- Reichsmark and "Modell 9b" for 27,50 Reichsmark in the catalogues. The difference was a light acid-engraving at the slide of then "b"-Type.
In addition all possible combinations of ivory- and mother-of pearl-grips as well as nickle- chrome- or gold-plating were offered.
The Model 9 got very popular, so that it was produced from 1921 up to 1945, as far as circumstances allowed that at that time.
Serial numbers were running from 410.000 to 645.000 and since 1939 from 190.000N to 200.000N.
