Robar Melior (Jieffeco) new model (model 1920)

History:

After the end of World War I and the restart of the production by Robar in 1920 a complete new construction was put an the market as "Melior New Model", and the preceeding model was named "Old Model" since then.
The New Model came up in cal. .25 and .32 ACP. Later on a model in .22 lr and in .380 were produced too, where both of them used the same frame-size like the .32 model.
During the production period of this model series there appeared several variations, which easily would have been possible to be named as different models due to differences in constructiones, but the company kept the name "Model 1920" for all of them because of the patented backsight-slide for dismanteling, which was the same for all variations.
As first variation in 1920 the type with long grip-safety came up.
A detailed seperation between variations and production numbers is difficult, but follwing some reports a total amount of 87.179 pcs. of the Model 1920 was produced, where the main production period ended in 1939 with some pieces still produced after World War II up to 1948.

This first variation was sold under the name "Jieffeco" too, but just for a short period, and some of them show the markings "Davis-Warner Arms Corporation New York" on it. This company in the USA seemed to trade these pistols, where the company Lowell in Massachusetts / USA was mentioned as manufaturer / importer. But the existence of the Davis-Warner Corporation ended in 1920, and the Jieffeco disappeared from the US-market.
